Hi, my name is Katie. I am a journalist who tells stories through writing, photos and videos – all which you can find on this site. I studied journalism and media production at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.
I am a staff writer at the Jacksonville Daily Record in Jacksonville, Florida. I cover health care, technology, small businesses and residential real estate.
I served as editor in chief of The Gargoyle, Flagler College’s award-winning, online newspaper. I also ran the website, made posts on social media platforms to drive traffic to our site, and helped staffers report and write stories.
While at The Gargoyle, I won two Society of Professional Journalists regional awards as well as four SPJ Florida awards. In my four years on staff, The Gargoyle has won both state-wide, regional and national awards for our website from the Society of Professional Journalists and Associated College Press. In 2019, I was named The Fund for American Studies Collegiate Journalism Award winner.
During the summer of 2018, I worked with the PGA TOUR and helped with digital content production. This included writing and editing stories, producing them for the website and assisting with social media.
In college, I worked full time and freelanced with the Jacksonville Business Journal. I’ve done freelance videography and writing for Florida Today in Melbourne, Florida.
One thing I love about journalism is learning about such a variety of subjects. I’m curious about all kinds of issues and stories, and journalism gives me a chance to dig in, learn and share what I find with readers.
When I’m not covering stories, I can be found spending time around historic downtown St. Augustine, playing or coaching golf or catching up on some of my favorite TV shows.
