I wrote this story as a freelancer, exploring how the skills gap affected Jacksonville and what manufacturers in town are doing to close the gap.

While this isn’t a typical business story, I think it shows just how diverse business reporting can be. During my internship, I took a two-week study abroad trip to Cuba, so it was a fun, relevant story to write.

After combing through data to find interesting salary trends in Jacksonville, I wrote two stories for Jacksonville’s localized coverage: on highest-in-the-state pay for CEOs and how low pay in the financial industry isn’t deterring talent from coming to Jacksonville.
